I recently read a great article from the TeachThought blog by Terry Heick on ‘Failing Forward: 21 Ideas to Help Students Keep their Momentum’ Many of these you will know others you might want to try. Number 2 on the list is one of my favorites – ‘Use Project-Based Learning’ – Technology can be a huge part of engaging students and providing opportunities to fail and revise.
PBL Resources:
The Buck Institute for Education is an organization of educational groups that values Project Based Learning (PBL). They provide a ‘one stop shop’ for teachers to gain insight into PBL as well as the resources and examples to do it right! A great example of this can be found on the BIE Resources page. They have the entire implementation of projects including the background, research, assessments and examples. A really fun one for this week being EarthWeek is the ‘Can You Trust the Water?’ PBL. There are tons more to see and investigate on this site. I linked a couple of the most important ones below.
