I wrote about this a while back and now the time is upon us. Google Drive app is going away in March. I’ve tried both alternatives, Backup and Sync, as well as, Drive File Stream. If you are in education, as I am, it turns out both are decent options, it really depends on how you personally use Google drive. I decided ultimately to go with Backup and Sync simply because I have limited space on my computer and only want what I need on my computer. Here is an on TheVerge.com that explains all of the changes. It does appear that you will have clearer access to all of your files. If you are like me you love having Google Drive for Education. This doesn’t change your access just the application. It will also impact your own personal gmail account. There is no need to freak out, just be ready for the change. Here is the link to the download.
